review 1: This was a good book but for some reason did not have me glued to the book or leave me hanging in suspense. Liam, maddy and Sal, the main characters are further developed and there is a surprising turn of events as robots sent from the future start attacking them and New York suddenly turns out to be like Ancient Rome. The three friends and their faithful (or programmed to be faithful) meat-robot, Bob helps them gain a place among the people of Rome.
review 2: I've got to say that I was disappointed with this book. I felt that this book was more of a plateau for Alex Scarrow's brothers book series. Alex admits that he used two characters from his brother's series that takes place in Ancient Rome. I felt that this book became more of a "get to know these two ch... morearacters" as if Alex was promoting his brother's series. Unfortunately, I felt it took away from the main characters of Time Riders. The beginning and end of the book was the best because it really brought forth a twist in the Time Riders series and journey...but the entirety of their time spent in Rome felt as though it was not for the Time Riders, but more for these two characters from another book series. I'll of course read the next book, and hope that we fall back into Time Riders tradition of fixing the past while the present is ever changing and the characters get closer and closer to finding the truth of their agency, and less about building up character background for characters that will go no further than one book. less
