review 1: Ok, so at the end of the book, the girl with glasses finds foster. she tells him that the time machine took Liam and the support unit all the way back to the dinosaur age. Foster was surprised and told her that he had never thought that the machine can travel that far back. but...on the last page foster told the girl that he WAS Liam.so... if he was Liam, he would have known that the machine could travel that far back.Does foster have dementia?did he forget what happened?Or is Liam/Foster just plain stupid?is anyone else having problems with this?
review 2: I've read many reviews where readers are saying that Day of the Predator is better than Time Riders #1 ~ However, there's nothing to be "better" about. It's equally as educational (about history) as book # 1
... more that dealt with an alternate outcome to Adolf Hitler's Reich. Book #2 is another great story about a different era of history- the Cretaceous period roughly 65,000,000 B.C. The only thing that felt different this time around (in terms of reading experience) is that the reader already has a grasp of the mechanics of how time travel works in Scarrow's world. As far as book # 2 being a "better" book - I wouldn't say it is "better" as much as I'd say it was equally exciting. Admittedly, I am biased because I am a fan of time travel fiction, and equally a fan of history. It's really interesting to see creative takes on what alternate histories could have been, and the minute details and moments in time that can alter history. The Day of the Predator examines a species of therapods that was never discovered in the normal historical timeline. It is seemingly a predator adaptation between a human and a raptor. This biped threat looms over Liam and a group of unsuspecting students touring a science institute after they are transported to 65 million BC in a freak accident caused by a tachyon clash.Liam is in 2015 in the first place to protect Edward Chan, a high school student who eventually writes THE paper of time travel theory that makes time travel eventually possible in 2044. If Roald Waldstein is considered the father of time travel, then Edward Chan would be considered its grandfather. Liam's initial goal is to prevent Chan's assassination. This is before they are both transported to 65 million BC in a freak accident. This book has great action, but even better, lots of educational aspects of about the Cretaceous period. In particular, there is a very interesting single chapter that outlines the effects of the suspected K-T event that wiped out the dinosaurs. This one chapter spans time through millions of years of evolution of history. It's sort of like when you see a really long scene in a movie where the camera doesn't cut once. This is a very good sequel and anyone who enjoys sci fi of any kind can find something they like in this series as a whole. less
