review 1: This was a well written book that kept my attention to the end. It takes a detailed journey through the dark mind of a sadistic killer and that of the woman tasked with trying to stop the killer. It is not for someone looking to read a lighthearted/feel-good mystery or for the faint of heart as the author is liberal with the grisly details. Although I don't normally enjoy books written from the first person POV, I ended up enjoying the format and thought it worked well with the storyline.
review 2: I enjoyed the majority of this book. The main character is very engaging and easy to like. The plot was pretty good - another serial killer but the puzzle was center-stage not the killer. The resolution was crazy. I think the author was working too hard on coming... more up with a shocking ending and she veered far into unlikely-land. I appreciated her attempt however. Also I figured out two of the surprises early on. It didn't impact my enjoyment of the book. I'll read the next in the series. less
