review 1: What I like about Andrew Kaufman is how he writes about ordinary people and makes them extraordinary through their flaws. All My Friends Are Superheroes is the perfect example of this but it's true of all his stories. For me, The Waterproof Bible didn't quite hit the mark. I loved Rebecca and Stewart and even thought Aby's story was an interesting premise but there was just something that was missing. it didn't feel quite tied together.
review 2: '"But at least I'm not running around putting a beginning, middle, and end on everything," she said, letting go of his collar. She exhaled and then leaned towards him again, so close their noses touched. "Have you people never noticed that there's a central flaw? No? Here comes the clue - the only difference between a
... morehappy ending and a sad ending is where you decide the story ends."'That's god talking there. I had a little shudder of an epiphany when I read that. I loved this book. It is so beautiful and yet so quirky and Canadian at the same time. Just really special. less

A beautiful romantic allegory entwined with mermaids, rain-makers and storage space.
