review 1: By the title, you would think that this book is very sad and it is, but it is also very comical. Taking place in London, ten-year-old Jaime doesn't have the best life. His dad is an alcoholic, his mom abandoned him, he's bullied daily, and his older sister is dead. He is very mature for his age and realizes what's really important and realizes the great things that he does have in life like his beloved cat, other older sister, and his best friend who he is forbidden to see. It's very interesting to see through the eyes of a child and is very entertaining. I definitely would recommend this book if you are looking for a great read and to travel with Jaime on his rocky road called life.
review 2: This is a nicely written book about the lingering effects on a famil
... morey of the death of one of their members in a terrorist bombing five years before the story starts. It's told from the perspective of ten year old Jamie, who can barely remember the sister who died, but who is nevertheless living with the consequences. I've marked it down slightly because for such a short book it deals with an awful lot of issues and it could perhaps have done with a little more room to breathe. less
