review 1: So, I'm gonna writte this in spanish because I want and I can....ESTE MALDITO LIBRO, ESTE LIBRO, POR EL ÁNGEL.
review 2:
... moreI'm glad this book got off more quickly than some of Anne Rice's other books, instead of wallowing in backstory before the real story gets started. Though I wasn't familiar with the mythology in this story, Toby's second assignment had me perplexed and eager to see how he would solve it. I could have done without some of the extraneous party-going and introduction of characters in odd ways. I'm also angry over the cliffhanger at the end, which doesn't really allow this story to end or stand on its own. Such blatant "buy my next book" ploys are only excusable when we know in advance they're coming. I felt cheated with this one. less

"I dreamed a dream of angels."Toby finally meets Liona and his son for the first time since he disappeared from New Orleans. He is sent on his second mission, this time to Renaissance Rome.Looking for insight into this series, the questions for me are:Why these historically based stories? Why tell them in this particular context? This story is set up to continue the series, and I look forward to the next installment.

Oh Louis, Louis... Still whining, Louis...In a few words: More adventures of an assassin that gets to meet the angels.Absorbing, but somewhat short (like an episode, rather than a movie). Mostly, couldn't put it down but for a few parts where Toby O'Dare seemed to get too engrossed in his thoughts or in describing what he felt or believed to remember there was a reader trying to follow him...
