review 1: April Pullye Sayer has written this beautiful picture book about an unlikely subject - a bear's diet. Follow the exquisite paper illustrations of the bear by Steve Jenkins as he searches for food in his environment throughout the year. This isn't the teddy bear that most picture books portray. This bear eats bugs and other animals and the text says that out loud. Eat Like a Bear would be a great choice to use in a unit on animal habitats or the food chain.
review 2: While this will be read as a picture book it does have factual information regarding the brown bear who awakens in the spring and needs to find food. We see the bear through out the summer and into the fall eating various foods from ants to moths, to pine cones. The illustrations are beautiful an
... mored rendered by Steve Jenkins an artist and natural science writer in his own right. Sayre uses a lyrical text to tell this story and I will be looking for more of her titles. There are two pages of very informative text regarding brown bears at the end of this story. Its wonderful to find this information included which enhances the text and whets the appetite for more information.Well done by two masters of natural science. less

Super cute! Plus, I learned a lot about brown bears, what they eat, how they hibernate, etc.
