review 1: Perhaps not quite as good as White Tiger, but still an enjoyable read. I'm afraid I couldn't develop a lot of sympathy for Masterji, as he didn't seem to have any really good reason for not accepting the developer's offer, so I tended to agree with the other occupants that he was just being bloody-minded. I would have liked more detail on what ultimately happened to everybody, including the developer and his sidekick. I have only visited India once, and that was to Delhi, so i can't really say how accurate the picture was of life there, but I found it convincing.
review 2: This book is about a middle class past its glory. Most residents of Tower A,Vishram Society are old or middle-aged couples who can only take pride in the respect they once commanded. Dharmen
... moreShah, a builder, comes along offering these residents a large sum in lieu of their homes. One retired teacher withstands the temptation, but his indomitable spirit and the repetitive descriptions of Mumbai become a drag. less

brutal and real. It feels like the events are from around us, happening somewhere in my city.
