review 1: Brynn and Elliot's story is amazing. The journey both of them take to heal their broken lives is intriguing. At times I was so wrapped up in their individual lives that I didn't care if they fell in love or not. Their passion for math is stronger than their passion for life which I think is pretty real (not necessarily the math but career). This is not a feel good dreams come true story. This is how people live.
review 2: Every romance is definitely not a fairytale. I initially picked up this book when it was a deal of the day, or some such special pricing; the premise sounded interesting and unique, so today I decided was the time to dive in. First, I'll say that the author's style is poetic and artistic; it felt like I wasn't just reading words, but experienc
... moreing a piece of artwork. Brynn is a different type of leading lady; you can tell right away that she is smart as she is studying math and she plays piano; it seems obvious that she is a struggling student and doesn't have a lot of close relationships in her life. Her Mother died some years ago and her relationship with her Father and his new family are strained. She has the opportunity to vie for a spot in a math internship in Hungary, under the tutelage of a noted Mathematician. Her ancestry on her Mothers side is from Hungary, so needless to say, she wants this badly. Days earlier, she has an encounter with a handsome stranger, who seem to just need a little lift; a day later Brynn had another encounter with this same name with the beautiful eyes and a distinctive scar in his cheek. He introduces himself as Eliot, and a connection is made. The day of the internship exam, throws Brynn for a loop, when none other than Eliot appears as the proctor of the exam as well as the mastermind behind the entire program. She completes the test, yet runs away as one of the last 4 vying for the top spot, as she did not give Eliot her real name when they met, and she felt dishonest and embarrassed. This leads Eliot to find the damsel that ran away from the exam so he can award her with her prize position. From their, the story takes on a unique turn. I can definitely see the Cinderella-esque plot to this story, and as it goes on their are some additional elements. But what this story lacked for me, was the romance or the connection of the love/relationship with the main characters. There were some elements of mystery and intrigue, which peeked my interest, but I really wanted to feel the whole Cinderella getting her Prince vibe, yet that part seemed almost inconsequential by the time we got to it. But being the true romantic that I am, I don't want to give up on this couple just yet, as they have a part 2, that I have picked up to finish out their story. Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. less
