review 1: Murder at Midnight is a medieval mystery that is a prequel to another Avi novel, "Midnight Magic." Very rarely does a prequel carry the appeal that a standalone novel does, but believe me: this one delivers. And I am by no means a fan of the medieval theme, and there were a couple times where the story does feel slightly boring. But with its simple yet intriguing plot, and its deceptively plain characters, Murder at Midnight is a page-turner that pulls through its flaws and is not to be missed. 9/10
review 2: A mystery about an orphan boy and a magician in Italy, this book has an air of an old dusty volume in a cobweb covered bookcase. Though inconspicuous at a glance, this novel contains a wondrous and fantastic story. It falls very well in line with actual hi... morestory, and is very realistic. The author had perfect word choice, making the book very flowing, and easy on the brain. This was a very fun read, and I would recommend this to everyone. less
