review 1: I like this series, and one of the things that makes it fun for me is all the knitting/fiber "name-dropping" - yarn brands, techniques, the acronym for Elizabeth Zimmerman's famous baby jacket patern, etc. It might be a tad confusing for non-knitters, even though there's a kind of glossary at the end. It also includes some patterns, a recipe or two, and a number of essays on knitting and fiber arts.
review 2: I liked this book. It had a little less suspense and energy as some of the last few books I have read. However, it had a strong pull which kept me guessing what would happen next. That is what it takes to keep me reading, and I definitely kept reading it. It didn't have quite as much action or strife as the last few books in this series, but that is
... moreOK. I think that Chloe and Luke deserved it with the baby on the way and all. It had enough to keep it interesting. I like how the use of adding in Luke's family helped build the story as well. I am glad that Luke's family like Chloe because she deserves to have a family - even if it is extended. She is a great perky character even though she worries. The baby definitely did not waste time getting her powers though, and this is a good thing! I enjoy visiting Sugar Maple, and can't wait to go back again and see what is in store in the future. I have never knitted a day in my life, but if Chloe was real and her shop were real - I would travel to Vermont to learn from her! less
