review 1: I needed to read this book. With the sadness I feel daily, this book was like a tissue soaking up my tears. I found grandmothers who had the most wondrous experiences as I wish I could be living, but even more who were facing those same daily losses I do with the realization that I am facing another day without Nate in our lives...and then, there is the phantom grandbaby ITW. With the conclusion of this book, I knew there is a club with just as many members of the Have-nots as that joyous membership I had for those few short years.
review 2: Another book I probably wouldn't have read if it hadn't been for book group. And I liked it. It's a collection of stories by writers who are also grandmothers - about grandmothering. Most of the writers' experiences we... morere positive and they loved their g'children, but a few were dealing with serious problems and I wondered how the family members (mothers of the g'children AND the g'chldren) feel about having their troubles put in print. less
