Remembering Isaac
review 1: I generally enjoyed this book and its message. Niederbipp is an authentic German town with a lot of charm whose potter recently passed away. Jake is a recent college graduate preparing for a trip to Greece to study further pottery techniques. He sees an ad in a ceramics magazine to be the next potter of Niederbipp; he sacrifices his trip to Greece to "try it out" for the summer. He then learns through the town members about the well loved and humble man who preceded him- Isaac. The book is full of sketches and paint splatters which are fun but distracting at times. Towards the end, the story became a little redundant for me as the formula of townspeople's stories repeated itself and the love story was slow in development.

... moreb that many of my neighbors are in and this book is May's pick. I read it in one day, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I love the message behind it, that living a simple life and always doing your best for others brings happiness, like Isaac did for the people of Niederbipp. I also love how the stories the townspeople tell Jake, the new 22 year-old town potter, change his life for the better. I also love that the love of God is an important part of these people's lives. I look forward to reading the sequel. less

Beautiful, feel-good story. The middle felt a little slow, but this book was just uplifting.
