review 1: Second Fashionista book. These are fun and I did learn a couple of things about 18thc fashion (never realized "opera gloves" were in style then).This was set at court when Marie was newly married to Prince Louis and not yet queen. Louise tries in vain to make Marie see the plight of the people but teenage Marie is too wrapped up in fashion and excess as the only area of her life where she feels she has some control. The big thing in this book is that Louise discovers she is not the only Fashionista. . . There is a whole group and once back in her own time there is the promise of meeting other members of the club. And could there also be a male time-traveler as well?
review 2: This series is completely charming. I love Louise and her adoration for all thing... mores vintage, and the fact that she's a very young 12. (Parents can get this for their kids with no worries whatsoever.)Like in the first book, Louise manages to find herself in some pretty unfortunate predicaments. (In the first book, she is on the Titanic.) Now, she's in Paris, which is awesome...except that she's in Versailles with Marie Antoinette. Oops.Sweet Louise is trying to find a way to convince Marie that she needs to start caring about other people (especially POOR other people) but it doesn't seem to be working. This is probably just as well, because I don't want to imagine what would happen if she changed something as major as the French revolution.I'm not sure how historically accurate these books are, but they are incredibly fun. less
