Area 51: The Nightstalkers
review 1: "Nightstalkers" - pretty good, fun, relatively light read, some fun characterization. "The Book of Truths" - meh. Interesting premise, but a lot of clunky writing. And I missed Scout. "The Rift" - pretty awful. Too much filling in of details from previous series, DUMB decisions by characters who seemed pretty smart in the previous books, and just an awful, awful, ridiculous ending that didn't make sense. But Scout was back. That was good. Basically, however, I'm kind of embarassed I read this book, even though I got it for free from Amazon through the Prime lending thing. I think I'm done with Bob Mayer after this one, unless he cowrites something decent with Jennifer Cruisie again...
review 2: I was a First Read Winner of this book, and as usual Bob Mayer does
... more not disappoint. I was a little worried since this is the 3rd book of the Nightstalkers series and I had not read the first 2 books in the series. I was able to follow along without problem and it was an action packed page turner and I had a hard time putting it down. However I do think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the other 2 books prior to reading this one. Something I am planning on doing since I really enjoyed this book. less
