review 1: This trilogy was probably a bit more of a 3.5, but it was still really good and I was completely addicted to reading it. I thought the world building was excellent and the trilogy followed a very good arc, with the story scale constantly stepping out. The reason it's still kind of a 3.5 is because I didn't love many of the characters, they felt more like people out of an imagination just doing what you would want them to do as opposed to believable people. Also the third book had so much philosophical and inner character conflict--really just drug on in places when you're desperately waiting for the story to move forward. Either way, if you like fantasty you're going to love this one, good easy read that was a lot of fun!
review 2: I don't know how it took me s... moreo long to read this trilogy. I loved every minute of it. Brandon Sanderson is now one of my favorite authors to read. Things about this series that are great: 1) The magic. It is unlike anything I'm used to and I loved it. Very refreshing to find a new spin on how magic might work. 2) The characters. They are diverse and charming. They pull you in and make you care about what happens to them. There's no one you really despise the way you do in some other fantasy series, but there are villains enough to go around. 3) The story. It was not predictable. I hate predictable stories. This one kept me guessing until the end.It has been a while since I found a story engrossing enough to make me willing to lose sleep for it, but this is one. less
