review 1: La historia y el argumento resultan interesantes y lo cierto es que enganchan y hacen que leerse los tres libros no nos lleve mucho. El tramo final de la trilogía es un tanto apresurado, ya que el autor decide ir directamente al grano y no narrar eventos innecesarios, condensando así la parte final en unos pocos capítulos, y aunque comparándolo con el resto de la obra nos da esa sensación de "apresuramiento", lo cierto es que se agradece la agilidad y la ausencia de "paja" innecesaria a esas alturas de la novela.Sin embargo, no puedo dejar de señalar que el tratamiento de los personajes femeninos no acaba de convencerme; tenemos mujeres fuertes, sí, pero parece que al autor le guste hacerles pasar por todo tipo de abusos y humillaciones.
review 2: While ... moreI do see a fair amount of promise in Weeks' world-building skills and a substantial improvement in the quality of his writing from the first volume to the next, I was ultimately unable to finish reading the series as his sense of pacing was a little too much for me at times and inhibited me from forming proper emotional attachments to the characters as there were simply too many that were introduced with little to no elucidation on their true purpose (Or their connection to other characters). My three rating does not signify that this is a mediocre work; rather, it expresses my opinion that The Night Angel Trilogy is clearly a first attempt for a new writer and the issues that I see within it (Large, dangling sub-plots that meander at times without purpose, an occasionally troubling dichotomy presented for both male and female characters, and a lack of clarity regarding just -who- is speaking at the current moment and what their larger role in the story is) are ones that can likely be improved as Weeks continues to publish more of his work and hone his craft as a writer. less
