review 1: I really love this series and this book is the end of an era. As you can see by the title, well I'll let you read it to see what actually goes down at the end. As for the beginning, the Green Goblin has busted out of S. H. I. E. L. D. custody again, amassed a "Sinister Six" of sorts and gone after Peter Parker. Bendis continues to be absolutely sensational on this book. The story is emotionally impacting, humorous at times, and always fun. The art is also great, as Mark Bagley, the original artist from the original incarnation of this series, has come back. Also, there are tons of variant covers included from a host of super talented folks. That's about all I wanna say about this one, but it's definitely worth picking up for a read.
review 2: I almost gave this
... more book 5 stars just because I like the series so much and this was such a big, heroic and fitting ending for the series. It helps that Ultimate Peter Parker is possibly the most human superhero in comics. He doesn't deserve what happens to him and especially how it happens, but it's an appropriate reflection of his life. If he had to go out, this is what you'd have expected. However, it's not a perfect story. Warning. Beyond here there be spoilers...So firstly, it would have been stronger if it wasn't pretty much the same way Bart Allen died. I could do a whole thing about how similar Bart and Peter are (they look like twins, ffs), but that's beside the point. When it comes to young heroes whose rogues gang up and kill him, Impulse did it first. He even did the whole - I'm in no shape to fight but have to or other people will die - thing first. And if you've read that story, you can't help but think of it as you read this story. Minus points. Also, I must have missed something, but why was the Punisher beading on Cap? That sets up the fall and it came out of nowhere. Also, Pete's smart enough to know there are safer ways to save Cap without body tackling him out of the way. He's done it before, so I can only figure he didn't do it here for the sake of the dramatic finale. Minus points. And lastly, I think Iceman and Torch would have lasted longer against the b-listers, especially once Norman was down. Only one of them could fly, so the torch in the air would have been unstoppable. Plus, versus Sandman, well, he should have become Glassman fairly quickly. As for Bobby, ice doesn't conduct like water. Nice try Electro, but that wouldn't have worked. And anyone in the creative process could have fact checked that in about 5 seconds with Google. So, minus points.ps: if only RIck Jones had come out of his coma a few weeks later, eh? less

You will have to read Ultimate Comics: Avengers vs New Ultimates side-by-side with it, of course.
