All-New X-Men (Marvel NOW!)
review 1: Collects All-New X-Men issues #25-30This continues to be one of the best Marvel NOW books out there. The relational stuff is awesome, because even after 30 issues, it is still so much fun to see how the younger versions of the X-Men interact with their older counterparts. There was some especially intriguing conversations between older Scott and younger Jean in this volume. Young Jean remains the stand-out character in this series as Bendis made a great move by increasing her powerset from what we saw in Older Jean. Young Jean is potentially coming the most powerful female in the Marvel Universe. As given away by the cover of this collection, the Brotherhood from the future appears as the main antagonists in this volume. This book gives us a chance to learn more abou... moret their origins and why they are doing what they are doing. SPOILERS BELOW:-The opening issue of this collection was awesome because we got a chance to see how bad Beast's actions messed up the Marvel Universe. The Watcher approaches Beast and reveals to him that bringing the X-Men from the past to the present day has set everyone on a road in which the happiness Beast wished for his friends will never come to pass. In a major sense, present-day Beast is the Big Bad for the entire "All-New X-Men" series. He has completely destroyed the timeline, and any good that was supposed to happen is no more. -I'll be honest, I don't really know what the deal was with Xorn in this collection. Was Xavier controlling a "doll" with telekinesis? -Kitty Pryde and Peter Quill is a match made in heaven. It will be fun to see more of this relationship unfold in future issues. -Future Xavier's parents = A huge surprise (How and when did that happen?)-All the different versions of Beast seem to be investigating how to fix the timeline. I liked all of the chalkboard scenes.
review 2: Wow. That was. Amazing. Weird. Confused. And yet it basically worked. The writers and artists managed to capture the confusing pretty darn well. Mostly with different styles of writing and art. Throughout it's not clear what actually happened. Or how many different time-streams we saw. But all in all good and believable. Special highlight is the Kitty and Peter's relationship in two pages of bad art cartoon. Emma forcing Jean to fight her by showing images that Jean would want to block. Kitty talking to Peter Quill by hologram. X-23 as always awesome from beginning to end. 4.5 of 5. less
