review 1: Terry is a confident, funky writer and an inventive chef dedicated to reclaiming African American cuisine from "master's scraps" to "healthy home cooking with an historical bent." His passion for the health of Black America's communities, which is so disproportionately affected by poor-cuisine-caused illness, translates directly into his delicious, creative recipes. I'm cooking a mess of greens in citrus dressing a la Terry today!

That being said, I think that the room for individual interpretation doesn't hinder the book or recipes. Maybe I just can't follow directions. less
