review 1: 4/14. Read about 1/3. I usually like medical stories, but this read like a romance novel wrapped in medical settings. Lame characters, like an ordinary tv drama. Young woman with a horrifying mugging where she broke her neck trying to get back to her nursing job. Meets a maverick, cocky doctor, a war vet, who is a know it all in the ER and runs a free clinic in a neighborhood being renovated. There was nothing here that pulled my in. It seemed manipulative.
review 2: This is the start of the Mercy Hospital spin off series, which follows the secondary characters of Mercy Hospital. This book is Riley Hale's story. We get to see her try to further her plan of trying to get her life back together after her attack, by working her way back to being an ER nurs
... moree. I liked how she didn't realize her true calling until her hope of returning to the ER had been dashed. It made her seem that much more realistic. Her Hero, on the other hand, was a very unlikable and selfish chap, and didn't seem to really fit Riley. All in all, it was a good beginning to the new series! less
