review 1: Thank you Goodreads Firstreads Giveaway for the opportunity to win a copy of this book. I greatly enjoyed this book. The story was very engrossing and suspenseful from beginning to end. I loved the author's delving into the secrets that people try to keep from those around them and how those very secrets influence and have an effect on others, most times not anticipated. I thought the author introduced a lot of different issues between the different characters, which is why I felt the book was so very engrossing. I wasn't sure how she was going to end the story, but ultimately, although the ending was wrapped up rather quickly all of a sudden, to me it did make perfect sense. I would definitely recommend this book and thing it would make a perfect book club read, insp... moreiring much discussion.
review 2: I thought it would be really hard to get through this book (given the plot summary on the back), but Carla Buckley did a wonderful job of making the story suspenseful and raising questions throughout the novel. The characters were interesting and there were several sub-plots that kept me wondering what was going to happen. The whole question of what a mother would do to protect her child was interesting and is explored in both Eve and Charlotte. Even though certain scenes were hard to read, I enjoyed this novel. less

Pretty suspenseful throughout, but a bit of a lame ending. I mean, seriously? I was disappointed.

Everything was great up until the end. It felt to me like the story just dropped off.

I thought it could have been a little shorter, but still a good book!
