review 1: A breezy read, with interesting findings and interesting reflections on friends and friendship, how they influence us, and how they are changing in our world today. Perhaps not the most in-depth book on a subject I've ever read, but an interesting introduction at the very least, with good reference to solid research and other books on the subject. Certainly provokes thoughts on friends and how I am as a friend to others!
review 2: Well, friendfluence may have gotten another star, if only she didn't use the word "pal" so often, along with "buddy" and "chum". I mean, I understand that when she checked the thesaurus, there just wasn't any other pleasant sounding words synonymous with friend. But, my word, I wish she just wrote "friend" again and again, for I almos
... moret gagged every time I heard "Pal". I can't explain why I so dislike the word so much, but I was about ready to put a gun in my mouth and go pow... maybe because I listen to the audiobook, and the narrator sounded like one of those over the top, bubbly DJ's on K-Love or life-songs radio station. The voice combined with the nonstop use of "pal" was bad enough that if Carlin was my pal on facebook, I just might unfriend her. My word, I am getting nauseous just writing about the word pal, if any of my friends ever calls me their pal, that's it, the relationship is over. less

Friends have both good and bad influences on us, and we all could use more of them.
