review 1: I picked this book up because of all the rave reviews it had. It does have some decent advice regarding presentations, but then again most of this advice can be found in many blogs/articles dotted around the internet anyway.Arguably by having just one point of reference, Steve Jobs, the author is able to focus all his attention to dissecting one person's style. And this in turn allows the reader to look up some of the presentations that Jobs has given. So the upside of the book is that one can see the techniques described in action and get some insight into how popular presentations are constructed. The downside is that the book can be quite laboriously sycophantic. For instance, the author praises Job's commencement speech, which is rather nicely constructed and had an ins... morepiring message but it wasn't a particularly well-delivered. This isn't an expectation of Jobs to always give great presentations but an expectation for the author not to cite everything from Jobs as genius. And it does feel like one long Apple ad. Non-Apple fans, beware.
review 2: Great concepts and approaches are outlined here, but the book glorifies Apple and jobs as a person a bit more than is needed to convey the core ideas.Stick to just 3-5 big takeawaysUse less words (no bullet lists)Audiences want to be entertained tooProvide a verbal roadmap for your audience Be passionate about your topicConvey slightly more energy than what is comfortablePRACTICE less
