review 1: Ms. Crane's characters are unique, as is the world she's created for The Disillusionists series. Devil's Luck is a novella featuring Simon and Fawna, who are not only opposites, they dislike each other until meeting unexpectedly at a fair Fawna finds herself fascinated with Simon's behavior. Why does he act the way he does? I won't say more because of spoilers, but this story is a romance unlike any I have read before, and fans of the series will love it.
review 2: I loved this series and maybe the afterglow has faded and I have read some other series since then, but this novella did not quite meet my high expectations. It was still a good sound story. This was a different side of Simon than I had seen in the three books of the trilogy and I was hoping for eve
... moren more over the top behavior. Perhaps faced with a relationship and an anchor or focus for his life he changed his tone and this change made him emotionally a little less "reckless". I find it difficult to connect with Fawna but she showed more dimension in this novella. I guess all in all, what was so entertaining about Simon was absent and I was hoping for a little more of his wedding behavior and instead I got a man grappling with the needs of someone he cared about. Good for Simon. less

A begrudging 3 stars because I only give the truly horrible less. I was expecting...something else.

I liked this short story a lot, but I didn't love it. Still a really fun read.

Simon is a crazy ass motherfucker. Maybe that's why I like him so much.
