review 1: Honestly, I was so bored of this book that after two weeks of reading a bit here and there, I decided to just be done with it - and quickly. So I did the unthinkable. I skimmed through more than half of the story. *Gasp*Some might really enjoy this mish-mash of characters from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park. The story revolved around Anne de Bourgh and Henry Crawford, though told from Elizabeth's and Darcy's POVs. It was quite the shocking story - Regency-wise. Scandalous elopements, polygamy and murder and all that jazz. But I was unimpressed, really, with the circumstances thrown at these familiar characters. Maybe if this had original characters, I would have liked it better. I haven't read an Austen fanfiction that I really enjoyed. I guess fanfic ... moreis just not my thing. :)
review 2: This outing of Darcy and Elizabeth into the world of sleuthing did not include a turn to the supernatural Gothic. The mystery was a pretty good mystery - even though I could see where it was going before we got there. This time, Darcy and Elizabeth end up in Mansfield. With Henry Crawford. Who's managed to elope with Anne de Bourgh. Anne de Bourgh is a sympathetic character in this book. Poor lady is still stuck under her mother's thumb, about to be married off - without her permission, no less - to a jerk who has a title and a horrid temper. So, Anne does the only thing she thinks she can: she runs off to Gretna Green with Henry Crawford. It gets wild after that. The only thing I didn't really like about this book was that there was too little Edmund and we didn't see Fanny at all. Otherwise, it's a fairly solid mystery - no supernatural twist this time, just a solid mystery that Miss Marple or Hercule Poirot might have enjoyed solving as much as the Darcys did. One blurb on the cover compares the Darcys to Nick and Nora Charles. It's an apt comparison. Darcy gets dragged into one crazy mystery after another, with the greatest reluctance, and Lizzy is at his side, making Nora Charles-like quips and giving Darcy all the help she can. less

Love that Lady Catherine's daughter finally finds the love of her life. Good story.

Il mystery è del tutto scomparso, si tratta di un semplice giallo.
