review 1: I love the fact that Bebris writes the Darcys as multi-layered characters (just the right amount of witty, charming, and affectionate with each other) true to Austen's originals. She then adds her own unique twist as the Darcys encounter both characters from the rest of Austen's novels and new Bebris creations. I found Matters at Mansfield quite entertaining and diverting. I enjoyed the rather straightforward nature of the mystery. (It feels more believable than encountering supernatural stuff everywhere you turn.) My one critique is that the ending felt a bit forced and rushed, especially the encounter with amnesia. Overall, a fun read.
review 2: As much as I love Jane Austen, Mansfield Park is a pretty dull read; there's not much to like about any of the cha... moreracters! What a relief to have this mystery to make things more interesting! I've enjoyed each of the books in this series so far, but I think this one in particular makes excellent use of the original plot lines, and brings the characters from the two stories together in a perfect blend. less
