review 1: 0.5 of the Forest of Hands and Teeth series. Found in The anthology ‘Kiss me Deadly. Dystopian short story about a girl named Tabitha being drawn to find out what’s on the other side of the fence protecting her village from the “monsters’. After meeting a young man outside the fence, she discovers that they are other villages. Extremely detailed and rich for a short story. At first it was slow, but then I got caught up in the girl’s search for the truth and her sad relationship with Patrick. Fave scene: Tabitha finding the basket of flowers with Patrick’s note.
review 2: In "Hare Moon" Tabitha has only ever known the village she lives in but longs for more. One day she sneaks outside the main fence to the path beyond. Gradually, as days
... morepass, she makes her way further down the path until one day she meets a boy. She'd thought her village was the only one left. Now she knows different, but her adventures could place everything she loves at risk. In the end she'll have to decide what's more important. I feel like it's been so long since finishing the series. This was definitely a welcome - if brief - return. less

Definitely not as good as the rest of the series but it's short so it's worth reading.

I liked this short story that showed Tabitha's back story.
