review 1: I thought this book was just okay. I didn't like it as much as "The Forest of Hands and Teeth" or as much as "The Dead Tossed Waves". I think my favorite book was the 2nd one. This one was just too repetitive in the writing. They would revisit the same thing with maybe some different wording. Annah would talk about leaving Gabry in the forest too much, they would talk about how the Unconsecrated were coming in hordes multiple times, and it just seemed to go on the whole book. Annah also would also just complain about her scars and her looks way to much for my liking. For some reason, I liked Gabry more, even though I thought she complained and was whiny too. Maybe because I liked her and Elias better. I just seemed to enjoy her story more. I don't know. For some reason, I ... morejust didn't like this one as much. I did like enough though, and I am sad to be done with this trilogy. I also wish there was more, just so I know how the characters are doing. I guess that is the point though, they are surviving in a world where you will never know if you are going to survive another day.
review 2: So I read this book thinking it was the first in a series or even a stand alone...oops. I had found myself stuck in a reading slump and I struggled to find a book that would interest me. The cover of this book caught my attention although I know I shouldn't judge a book by its cover blah blah blah. I have to say that it took me by surprise because I was not expecting to be sucked into the story as quickly as I was. I finished it all in one day because I was that absorbed. I should have realized this wasn't the first book in a series though because some details were confusing, but not too confusing where I couldn't put the pieces together later on. I'm going to read the other two in this series and pray they are as fantastic as this one. less

I wanted to throw this book against the wall, but couldn't put it down long enough to do so!

I'd give it 4 if it weren't so slow the first third of the book......
