review 1: This was adorable! But it was much more Grimm's style than I expected it to be. The author really borrowed a lot from the storytelling traditions of old--relatively little description, almost no exposition at the beginning of the story, uniformly practical language and sentence structure throughout. So, while I enjoyed the story a lot, I was kind of bored by the utilitarian prose (though I do understand its purpose, it's just not for me).
review 2: I especially liked The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making! The way Catherynne M. Valentene links reality with fantasy really had me hooked, especially the short explanation about the lines of latitude and longitude. I love the friendship between September and the Wyvern/Library (Wyverary t... moreo you and me) A-through-L. Their heroics, charm, and braveness throughout the book made me almost jealous of September, wishing that I was her. The Marquess isn't truly evil, and her story really moved me as she told about her life before Fairyland as well as in Fairyland. I admitted to my book-worm friend that I had cried at the ending of The Marquess' story and the end of the book. I would definitely recommend this book to all types of people! less
