review 1: like any anthology it suffers from the problems of stories that are too similar, there are two stories featuring cops being told about the supernatural by other cops who have a hidden agenda, stories fitting in gaps between novels you have never read, stories that have only the loosest connection to the supposed reason for the collection, and some being better than others.but who cares about that because you are really only reading it for the first draft of The girl with All the Gifts by Mike Carey.
