review 1: For the most part this was a pretty good book, not to mention it being all different short stories. And on the other hand not a bad book to find at the Dollar Tree lol. I had bought the book though despite the price because I thought it was going to be a really great book. Have read other books before like it and enjoyed them well. With this book though and most of the writing was great, but most was a bore. It had a feel of most of them being outdated. Like one of the short stories that would be in a Alfred Hitchcock. Where some stories will be really great for a short one, while others seemed to be boring. Having you wonder why in the world they would put the story in the book. With this book that is what I thought. Had I not really liked some of the stories in this book... more would have given it a lower rating then I did. However guess I great book to pass the time for someone. At least have more of a option to skip through some of the stories to get to something good. Instead of just one whole book while you don't have to keep skipping pages to try to get to something good
review 2: This is an anthology, so I I had different feelings about each individual story (especially since some were better than others). However, as a whole, the stories feel darker than the average paranormal/urban fantasy, and that the actual mystery elements varied wildly. Some were integral to the story, the paranormal aspects just being the springboard for them, others were more of a way to uncover supernatural elements. While the anthology was darker than I expected for much of the time, it was still a wonderful mixture of noir and fun, dark and playful, and horror and playful paranormal aspects. less
