review 1: Charles Finch writes exciting Victorian mysteries. You just think you know how the mystery will end and their is another twist and turn leading the reader a whole different way. Through the book we also wait to see if our main character, Charles Lenox, will work up the courage to ask his long time friend, Lady Jane Grey, to be his wife. Once you start the series, the reader will want to read each of these well drawn mysteries.
review 2: Entertaining although there isn't really a lot that is original about the book. The entire first chapter seemed like a scene straight out of a Dorothy Sayers novel. Still, the familiar is comfortable and it was an enjoyable read. A few weak spots in the plot and I think there may have been a few anachronisms as well. But if you
