Charles Lenox Mysteries
review 1: Another enjoyable read in the Charles Lenox mystery series! The latest installment finds Lenox fully immersed in his Parliamentary duties, occasionally missing his former life as a detective. When Lord John Dallington falls ill, Lenox steps in to meet his client but the meeting goes awry and the mystery thickens. Charles Finch does a wonderful job of laying out the clues for the amateur detective-reader, if one is itching to solve the case before Lenox. With a mixture of enjoyable side characters with their own secrets and mysteries, An Old Betrayal is a wonderful read and a great way to pass a day.
review 2: The mystery of The Old Betrayal was a little drawn out and boring. I would've enjoyed it more if Grace Ammons played a more sinister role in the murder pl
... moreot. But despite that, it's always fun revisiting these character's lives. I love that Charles Lennox is a true gentlemen who trusts his friends above everything else. He is so respected that a rival detective would go out of his way to protect a friend of Lennox's just so Charles would speak respectfully about him. And thank you Mr. Finch for finding a suitable love interest for John Dallington, though I'm a little jealous of Polly Buchanan. I just hope she doesn't give up her independence as a woman detective by partnering with Lennox and Dallington. This is going to be a interesting relationship. less
