review 1: Wow. I was intrigued with the first novel in the series, "Heartsick" so of course I wanted to read this one. It didn't disappoint. I admit I enjoyed the Portland/Hillsboro settings because I lived in Hillsboro for 5 years. There is a lot of action and a few heart-stopping moments. I'm not totally comfortable with the interplay between Archie and Gretchen, but then I don't suppose we should be! It's certainly believable and I'm left feeling sorry for the trauma Archie lived through and is living with. Stockholm Syndrome to the max. Now looking for book 3!
review 2: This was a struggle at times. Archie's fascination with Gretchen bordered on stupidly annoying yet other parts of the story were gripping and caused frenzied page turning. But these were comparatively... more few and the ending felt rushed in tying up various sub plots. There were many small highlights which were great but, on the whole it felt lacking compared to the first book. However, book 3 in the series is ready and waiting on my bookshelf to devoured. So does that mean I am as confused and attracted as Archie is to Gretchen?! less
