review 1: They weren't kidding when they said this is a book that will stay with you. It's super intense and pretty dark, so if you're looking for an uber happy novel, this is not for you. But I loved this. The only thing that kept it from being a 5-star rating was the ending, it didn't sit well with me for some reason. Also a few of the other character's endings kind of just disappeared which I felt was incomplete. Otherwise, this was great. Read it.
review 2: This is a painful story - both as a reader and a woman and especially knowing that even though it's a story, it's also a reality for far too many women. But, as heartbreaking as Romy's story was, it was near impossible to walk away from her. She was a fighter and she was flawed and this story exposed every vulne
... morerable, messy bit of her and it was inspiring. There were glimmers of happiness throughout in the secondary characters and the way they worked in Romy's life. And I appreciated that there were solid parental figures involved as well. The conclusion of the story was left fairly wide open and as a reader I desperately wanted more, but I understand that it needed to be handled in that manner. It would not do Romy, her experience, and any readers truly identifying with either any sort of justice to write a tidy conclusion. This is a story that will stay with you for a long, long time. It's a must read. less
