review 1: I absolutely adored this book. This was my first run in with Cullen Bunn, and I was thrilled to see such skilled execution on display. The narrative is contained, and paced masterfully, all to the tune of a weird west horror story. Despite being totally contained and seemingly complete with this volume, a larger world is effectively seeded in the mythology of the guns, striking the exact storytelling balance I look for in comic book story arcs. Hurtt's art is wonderful, with a classic pulp charm and an exquisite color palate. I'm totally charmed by this series, and am excited to not only continue collecting The Sixth Gun, but to start keeping an eye out for everything else Bunn and Hurtt continue to offer up.
review 2: Solid art, solid story, solid writing. No
... morething about this book struck me as crazy or struck me in a heavy emotional way, but I really enjoyed it a lot. It's fun, entertaining, and is driven by an interesting premise that makes me want to find out more about not only where the plot is heading, but about the background details as well. I definitely intend to check out the next volume soon, as I think it's likely that this only gets better. less
