review 1: I liked this novel, and it does offer some unexpected twists, turns, and reveals. But I agree with some other reviewers. The highly intriguing concept set forth in the first novel is completely gone by this last one, and the overall series suffers for it. There also are some pulpy aspects to the book, with the heroes at times being a little too heroic and the villains too villainous, which is a result of the approaches in the earlier novels. A good read, but I felt it was the weakest of the series but was bolstered by the being the close-out of the series (but probably not the end of the books).

Characters you might have liked once become characters about whom you couldn't care less and the characters you hate stick around well past their sell-by date. Points for gritty sci-fi realism, but I'd've been better served, I think, stopping with book 1 and just imagining the fate of the Unincorporated Man. less

Took a while to really get in to this one, but the ending almost makes it worthwhile.
