review 1: Are you SURE Daniel Levin isn't another pen name for Dan Brown? You would swear it must be--from the movie-script format to the MANY impossible scenarios, and, yes, to the fascinating historical background, much of which is actually true. I listened to this book on tape, and found myself sitting in the car (the equivalent to being unable to put down a book), even as I rolled my eyes at the totally impossible events. Just enough of them could--possibly--happen to keep your interest. The best place to read this book would be while visiting Rome!
review 2: Despite some minor editing flubs, this first novel is a real winner. The work was extremely well paced and the characters were well drawn. The energy in the book was palpable and the action moved along non
... more-stop. The timeline seemed a little too compressed to hold all of the travel from Rome to Israel and back as well as all of the action in each place, but the compelling story made me want to overlook this. It was also good to have a novel where people from different faiths shared common problems and included good guys as well as bad guys who were Christians, Jews, Muslims, and atheists. I really liked the integration of ancient Roman history and sites into this work, as I just returned from a trip to Rome with my daughter and found a lot of familiar locations discussed. Could someone criticize this as a Jewish take on "The Da Vinci Code", of course. Did it make it less enjoyable to read - no way. I look forward to reading more from Mr. Levin. less

A little slow, way too much detail, and too long.
