review 1: I quite liked the old Thunderbolts team, and this is apparently unrelated in any way but the name. That made it something of a hard sell for me, particularly since I only really cared about Deadpool and Venom out of the characters presented here (also including Elektra, the Punisher, and the Red Hulk, primarily). That said, this worked pretty well. It's a collection of killers and mercenaries... military types, in general, and since the Red Hulk is none other than General "Thunderbolt" Ross, the name makes some sense. It's fairly well-handled, with a coup on a Southeast Asian dictatorship to secure a gamma reactor, with twists and turns as everyone finds out what is going on. I liked this a lot more than I had expected that I would.
review 2: So despite not bei
... moreng the biggest fan of this creative team or the idea behind the series, I didn't actually hate this. The idea is sound, and the plot is less pedestrian than it seems on the surface, with some unexpected plot twists and an unresolved ending that makes me wonder what happens next despite my better judgement. The art by Steve Dillon is...well, it is what it is. He shouldn't be allowed to draw superhero books anymore, but unfortunately no one seems to tell him that. Even if this isn't true Thunderbolts, its not as bad as I thought it would be. less

Daniel Way and Steve Dillon tells a superpowered version of the Dirty Dozen.
