review 1: I just got done with a meaty read about Teddy Roosevelt and felt maybe a fluff book would be nice.Boy – was this fluff.Keeping in mind I am not the girly romantic type, but I was disappointed in w smart woman making a very back choice in this book.Timmie O-Neill is the Vera Wang of this book. Top fashion designer with the world at her feet she is naturally beautiful but harboring dark secret. While in Paris for a ready to wear show, she becomes ill and calls a doctor recommended by a friend. In walks Jean-Charles, good looking middle aged internist who eventually is beside her during an emergency appendectomy. From the beginning he took bedside manner to a creepy level. Guess what? He is married and they fall in love.Along the way he tells her he is going to leave his... more wife (oh that old line) but his wife and family issues keep him home.Oops – a baby! She can design clothes, but birth control was not one of the items on her “to do” list. This book went on too long with this woman “waiting for her man”. I almost wanted to pull the Mother Card and reach into the book and shake sense into her. After way too many pages, he finally leaves his family and they meet again when she injures her ankle in Paris and love lives on.She finds her birth mother, who she thought were dead along with her father and that is why she was put up for adoption and that is anticlimactic.Like I said, I am not the girly romantic type. I have more self esteem than Timmie and would have moved on earlier.
review 2: Just finished this book, and though, not an avid reader of Danielle Steel's books; I switch off to her sometimes for a break from my usual, I absolutely enjoyed First Sight which swings between Paris and San Fran, and involves the fashion industry. Truly a NICE romantic novel. Enjoyed it so much I just bought her latest novel that just came out last month and revolves around horses. To me, I feel as though the older she has become; no slight intended, as she is a beautiful woman at any age, the better her books have become. I used to be an avid reader of hers when I was younger, but then her books started to become monotonous and of the same theme, so I stopped reading her, n just very recently picked her back up again. This was a refreshing romantic novel that, for me, drew together 2 of my favorite things: fashion, and travel to beautiful, sleek places! less
