review 1: First of all, I'd like to say that I am reviewing this book because no one seems to love it as much as I do. After I read the library's copy, I went out and bought a personal one. This book has changed my life. Our story opens with Liam. He is in that teenage-progression-stage and things with him and his best friend are falling apart. One day, he follows a raven and finds a baby. Completely random, right? That's just it. Is there really such a thing as coincidence? Maybe everything happens for a reason. Finding the baby changes Liam’s life forever. He feels compelled to keep an eye out for her and meets her new foster family which includes two teenagers - a Liberian refugee and a fire victim. These characters all discover themselves throughout the novel and you are brough... moret to question and discover yourself.I read this book when I was thirteen and I was at the same stage in life as Liam. I related to him so perfectly that I felt as if David Almond had written about me. The language is a little complex, but so beautiful. It goes off on tangents and has little thoughts sprinkled everywhere, but it just works. This book really speaks to the soul. It is perfect for anyone who thinks about the past a lot. Finding this book was just like Liam finding the baby. It allowed me to realize things about life that I never would have, without its presence.
review 2: I have borrowed this book from my school library. I am in year eight i like the type of adventure books where the characters are always on the move and never stop to take a breath. I also like the type of books that keep you guessing at every turn. I have only read the first couple of chapters in this book. so far i am intrigued at what the rest of the story is going to throw at me. some other people on goodreads.co.uk who have already read this book have said that it gets boring at page 160. like i said i have only read the first couple of chapters i am on page 84 or something. but anyway overall i like what i have read so far. less
