review 1: It is, of course, a Jack Reacher rip-off. I mean, it's so obviously a rip-off, that I looked for Lee Child on the acknowledgements page. That being said, it's a good Reacher clone. I mean, sure, there are plot holes if you look for them, and John Puller is just not as compelling a character as Reacher. But Baldacci is great at pacing, and the pages flew by, even though it was on the long side for the genre. It's clearly meant to be part of a series, but I don't see how he can get away with publishing a second completely obvious clone.
review 2: War hero John Puller is known to be the top investigator in the US Army’s CID. So when a family with military connections is brutally murdered in a remote area of West Virginia, Puller is called to investigate,
... moreand soon suspects the case has wider implications. As the body count rises he teams up with local homicide detective Samantha Cole. As the web of deceit is revealed, it quickly becomes apparent that there’s much more to this case than they had first thought. It is an investigation where nothing is as it seems, and nothing can be taken at face value. It is a nuclear bomb that is hidden in WV. Puller, with the help of his brother, discovers where it is and how it can be prevented from detonating. The sheriff, Samantha Cole, is killed in the explosion, Puller finds out that Strauss was the local man and a Dept of Homeland Security was the brains behind it all. less

Bland and flat. The theme seemed copied from Jack Reacher series erasing the justice.
