Sedulity Saga
review 1: Sedulity is a cruise ship that happens to be in the vicinity of an asteroid strike in the Pacific Ocean. As a result of the asteroid strike there are monstrous waves and other frightening weather phenomena that threatens the ship, its passengers, and eventually the pacific coastlines and islands. I found it well described and the fear of the ships passengers and crew was clear and realistic. The idea of this being a real possibility is absolutely terrifying and of course that is why I read apocalypse/post-apocalypse fiction. There are a few main players in the storyline and they were likeable and real. However I would of liked to see a bit more character development so that I could really become emotionally invested in them. To be fair, there was so much action to the stor... morey that it wasn't a very noticeable loss. The non-stop, adrenaline-fueled storyline reminded me of Lucifer's Hammer, another great action/apocalyptic story.
review 2: If there is no category of hard apocalypse, it should be introduced for this book. A very interesting, though at some times dry, read of the events that might follow in the immediate first hours after an asteroid strike, which David adds some life into by conflating those events with ocean liner tropes. If you enjoyed Footfall of Larry Niven, you'll like this story as well, especially if it might be expanded into further description of events in a bigger scale. If it's on the same quality as Voyage of the Dead, I look very much forward to an enjoyable read. less

I love EOTWAWKI type stories and this one fit the bill. I am anxiously awaiting the 2nd part.
