review 1: This is a very believable story, gently and compassionately written, on the life of Mary Magdalene, her descent into madness and her healing by Jesus. Mary has a happy childhood but early on was kidnapped and thus began her nightmares. As different events occur causing trauma in her young life, the demons haunt her even more. There are a few bright spots in her life, one being the love and devotion of her husband. In more lucid moments she feels trapped in her body and longs for deliverance but the demons overpower her. First her parents and then her husband long for her to be free. She is brought to the rabbi and the priests but it is only Jesus who is eventually able to heal her. She follows Him for the next few years after the death of her husband and is with the Messia... moreh during His crucifixion and was the first to witness His resurrection. When she goes to back to her hometown she encourages the new believers in their faith.
review 2: Diana Wallis Taylor writes with strength and the ability to take the reader into the ancient past. Everyone has heard of Mary Magdalene but Ms. Taylor brings her to life. As a Roman Catholic, I do not believe that the Mother of Jesus had more children but that didn't take anything away from Ms. Taylor's writing. I recommend this book to everyone who has an interest in history, religion and historical fiction especially during Lent. less

Fictional representation stays close to scripture. Well done.
