review 1: The premise for this one was really cool - a band of Highlander brother's with Pagon gods hexed into them to defeat their enemies, and protect their home? Now they're forced to live forever knowing that they both failed to protect what they held dear, and are cursed to live forever with their guilt! Yes please!But sadly, it just didn't work for me. Lucan, the main brother just wasn't fascinating enough for me (though I loved younger brother Quinn and his tragic back story) and our heroine Cara is the definition of a wet blanket. Even the villainess Deirdre lacked credible spunk.
review 2: This book was totally riveting from beginning to end. You got these three brothers that don't show themselves to anyone they fight amongst each other and have done for over ... more300 years. That's the only thing they know because they don't want to show themselves to other humans. They are three demons. The oldest brother Fallon doesn't want o turn into the demon so he drinks just to ignore what he is for real knowing he can learn to control it. The middle brother Lucan he has learned to control the demon inside of him. And he ends up taking care of the other two bothers because the oldest one doesn't care to be in control of the demon or his siblings. The youngest brother Quinn is in pain. When their clan was wiped out they wasn't there to help and he lost a wife and son. He has never forgiven himself for that but Lucan keeps telling him it's now nor was it ever his fault but he still blames himself. The three brothers were taking by an evil person named Deidra she wants to take all the warriors that have demons and them to control them and rule the world. But the three brothers got away. Along comes and innocent girl named Cara. She was raised in a nunnery because her parents were killed by the same person and her minons that tried to keep the brothers. But Cara has no idea she's filled with magic. But when Lucan sees her picking mushrooms along side their ruins of a castle he falls in love with her. He rescues her only to just want to protect her. He's afraid if he shows her what he is she will turn him away and run away screaming. The books is excellently written. To find out what happens u would need to read. less
