review 1: My book was 600 pages and to be honest the first 300 pages were slow moving. I almost put it down permanently. However, there are very few books I've not finished. Perhaps it's the optimist in me that the book will turn around. This is one of those books but for me, it moved from trash to bearable. It was stressful to read and maybe that was the intent. The story took too long to develop. The characters were not endearing or empathetic. The whodunit factor bought my rating up.
review 2: Dorothy Koomson’s style has changed quite a lot since My Best Friend’s Girl and The Chocolate Run, and for the better. This is a real page turner, with several twists, none of which I saw coming, and much darker than the cover suggests. The complex format is well handled, a... morellowing the three female narrators to show us the complexity of relationships, how everyone has secrets to a greater or lesser extent. The truth will almost invariably out, and in this case the consequences prove to be very far reaching. less
