review 1: Love the idea of having 2 books in 1, sometimes I'm put off picking up a thick book but knowing it's actually two short books it's a bit more appealing. I found No Time To Die really gripping! I did not expect to get so hooked on something that could be considered murder mystery as it's not my usual book choice but throw in the psychics, spirits and hauntings and it was hard for me to put the book down. Although initially I found The Deep End Of Fear a little slow, the introduction of a possible romance with Sam made me want to continue reading. I'm glad I did because I was soon desperate to finish the book in order to find out whether my theories about what had happened/ was going to happen were true. Would definitely recommend if you're a fan of anything supernatural, sp... moreiritual, murder mysteries and a little bit of romance.
review 2: The book I chose to read for Term 3 was Dark Secrets 2 by Elizabeth Chandler. This has 2 stories in one book and I read the first one, No Time to Die. This was a story about a girl named Jenny who goes to a drama summer camp. This happens to be the same camp in which her sister Liza was murdered at last year. Jenny is not as much of an actor as Liza and she battles stage fright, her reasoning for going to the camp is to connect with Liza’s spirit. She believes Liza was killed not by a serial killer like the police say, but someone at the camp who was close to her. With many of the campers from last year returning this year, Jenny is determined to catch her killer even if it means changing her identity and putting herself in harm’s way. She relives Liza’s experience and is guided by her sister to discover the killer. My favorite character in the book was Jenny whose real name is Jenny Montgomery but to everyone else she is known as Jenny Biard just so that people don’t know her relationship to Liza. Jenny is a sweet girl who doesn’t want to get close to many people at the camp because of the relationships she knew her sister had with them. She is scared of acting in front of an audience but she ends up getting a lead role in the play. She does all this just to find out the truth about her sisters murder and that is why I feel so strongly about liking her. I think most people who read it end up rooting for Jenny to find the killer and to make it through the camp. Overall, I thought this was a great book. I would recommend it to others because it is suspenseful and makes you want to read on and find out the truth. It is very interesting and is not some gross murder story. It is more about Jenny finding her sister’s killer than about Liza’s murder itself and I think that is what makes it a great story. less
