review 1: November Book Review For the month of November, I read the book Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott. This book was about a girl named Kyla, who was kidnapped by a man named Ray at age 10 and lived with Ray in his apartment for five years, now having the identity of Alice. She is threatened that if she leaves, her family will be killed. She is often sexually assaulted and does everything Ray tells her to in fear of her family being killed, but does not care about her own life being threatened anymore. She does not attend school, but sometimes goes to other places like the park, church and store with and without her captor. Everyday is basically the same to her, with Ray going to work, where he is seen as a quiet person and her going to the places Ray wants ... moreher to go. Ray also dresses her in little girl clothes and does not let her be over 100 lbs. There are other ways he keeps her looking young. Her chance of escape comes when she is instructed by Ray to kidnap another girl, and she chooses the girl from a park she frequently visits. The girl has an older brother, Jake who is about her age and she plans to run away from Ray once the little girl is kidnapped. It’s hard to say that I loved this book-it was so disturbing. It was one of those books you have to put down and think for a minute-but then have to pick it right back up. This book’s short chapters and simple wording left me questioning humanity. I thought this book would be about a ghost, hence the title, but it is about the way Alice sees herself-alive but not really living. She does not feel anymore. I do not recommend this book to anyone under the age of 13, but do recommend It to anyone interested in abductions, like me. It really shows the captive’s way of thinking.
review 2: This was a very intense story about a girl who has been abducted and abused for 5 years. As "Alice" gets older and bigger, her captor, Ray, is becoming less and less satisfied with her. This is agonizing to read as Alice details the torture and misery she endures day in and day out. The ending is satisfying in a very limited way. Unfortunately, the author does a good job describing this horrific situation and stays true to that standard to the bitter end. I probably should give it a higher rating because I think it was well done- I just had trouble stomaching the content. less

Wow, that's all I can say. Powerfully disturbing book. But still I couldn't put it down.

Well written, fast read, but the ending seemed like a bit of a cop-out.
