review 1: This book was difficult to get into at first. I stuck with it because I related to Jayne very well. It's been many years since I was in high school, but I was very much like her, so i stuck with it. I have never been so glad that I stuck with a book series. Elle Casey has just my kind of humor. I'm impressed by her writing and the easy flow of her books. I have recommended this series to anyone who will listen. So listen, READ THIS BOOK! :)
review 2: This book made me laugh so hard! The main character, Jayne, is a total nut-case with a bad-ass attitude and a swear-word vocabulary that would suit a sailor. I loved hearing her descriptions of what was going on - her analogies and explanations make me laugh. The writing was pretty good and the story moved along at... more a good pace. I was a bit sceptical that the book had anything to do with the fae and other fantasy creatures at first; the story seemed pretty straightforward until about halfway through the book where odd things start happening. As it unfolded, I found myself enjoying the way random creatures kept showing up and watching the characters try to take it all in stride and keep going. Jayne's semi-breakdowns from all the craziness were pretty entertaining. I also liked the bit at the end where each character had to admit their greatest desire. Sometimes we don't want to admit the truth to ourselves but we always end up facing it eventually.I've decided I like this book and will keep reading the series to find out what happens next. less
